Our time in Mt. Shasta

Hello, this is Dhruv Sagar with my first post in the new year, 2012!!

On the Presidents day long weekend, we decided to spend our time in Mt. Shasta, a beautiful place in the rural countryside. It's about 4.5-5 hours of driving, so we left on Saturday after enjoying part of the weekend. The drive was ok... reading and watching and sightseeing from the window. Finally, we saw the hotel. As we got warmed up, we saw the swimming pool, so we ran to our room and got our stuff ready for ending the day in the pool. After the pool adventure, we thought of the great day ahead of us, and slept.

In the morning, we had to get ready quick for our day. We went down to the breakfast room and feasted on the continental breakfast until about 8:30 where we left for  . . . the Mt. Shasta Ski Resort! The weather was great, sunny and cold, perfect for skiing. My mom and Shuban left right away for Shuban's all day class, while me and my dad put on our ski gear. As we clomped our way up to the ski resort, we looked at the ski map:

We stayed more on the left side where the green was lined. If you see closer to the purple thick line which represents the ski lift there are some blue level slopes called Snowshoe and Challenge which is medium which I went on. We had lots of fun that day, going on the slopes and enjoying the thrill of the sport of skiing. After lunch, we did skiing until four, where it was starting to get a little chilly. We packed up and drove back to the hotel, excitedly talking about our day. We arrived at the hotel and got cozy in our room and slept.

The next day, Monday, we did the same routine and after breakfast we left for the Shasta Caverns.
These rooms were filled with many stalactites and stalagmites and  beautiful patterns of rock. We climbed about 200 stairs, and went down about 250 stairs in the process but we loved it. There was excellent views and scenery as well.

After this we went to the Shasta dam and took some pictures of the great wall enclosing about 4.5 million acres of water.
After taking a couple of pics, we geared up the car for our long drive back home. Now he we are thinking about our trip and the great times we have spent together as a family.

Thank you for reading my blog and good bye for now!!
